Our 6th graders are studying frequency adverbs at the moment. To help them understand the concept a little better here is a great video from youtube:

The Haunted Castle - Reader's Theatre

This year, our 6th graders are working with a methodology called Reader's Theatre which is a great way to learn and have fun at the same time. By using the same script repeatedly, students improve their reading and oral skills, practising intonation and pronunciation.

Our first contact with the methodology was a short play called The Haunted Castle (taken from the website http://missgbrown.weebly.com) which we adapted to our own needs. The boys and girls had great fun acting out their different parts and, although we were not going to present the play in front of other students, we decided that a Halloween reading for 5th grade would be interesting.

In reader's theatre, children don't have to memorise their lines so they have the security of the script. It's important for them to add gestures and voice intonation.

As a first try, the experience was positive, so much so that the boys and girls want to prepare a Christmas play to present to the youngest kids in our school. Watch this space!

Halloween 2018

This year, the English teachers, Xesca, Joana and Angie, along with the help of our conversation assistant, Claire, decided to decorate the hallways of the school for Halloween.

From the youngest kids, right up to the eldest, different forms of arts and crafts were created to give a "Halloweeny" feeling to the school. The kids were delighted with the outcome. Times are changing and Halloween is becoming more important in Majorca, so we like to go where our kids take us!!

OP ART - our new art project

In grade 6, we've just discovered an artist called Bridget Riley. She's been painting for many years but her paintings are special because they form part of the OP ART movement. OP ART deals with optical illusions, which means that we have to work hard with our eyes to see things that are not really there, or that are there but hidden away!

We had great fun discovering this type of art... and now, we're creating our own work! You'll soon be able to see it here... keep your EYES open for our very own Montaura OP ART!!!

Lapbooks in English and Art

To start off the new course year, we need to revise vocabulary and structures done before. What better way to do this than to make a lapbook "All about me!"
Students have been collecting information about themselves and creating their very own soource of information.
We'll let you see the finished results soon!

Games in class Year 1

Last week we were able to play in the playground because the weather was great! This week we haven't been as lucky, but we still managed to have a great time playing games, practising new vocabulary and revising vocabulary we already knew!

What is he wearing? What is she wearing?

The boys and girls of year 3 are almost ready to present their own fashion show with the clothes vocabulary they have been learning these past weeks.
On Wednesday, we practised by walking around the class and getting someone to describe the clothes we were wearing on that day. It was a bit embarassing, but good fun!!
